Description

In 2023 The Tank Museum celebrates its centenary - and to mark this milestone we are pleased to announce “The Tank Museum in 100 Objects”.

With a mission to “tell the story of tanks and the people that serve in them”, The Tank Museum has amassed a unique collection of over 100,000 items since it was founded in 1923.

Drawing on 20 years' experience as curator, David Willey has selected 100 items from the Museum’s collection that define its richness.

Among them medals, documents, photographs, art, models, uniforms, weapons, and of course, tanks.

And for each, a description that tells a unique story and puts their historical significance into context.

“The Tank Museum in 100 Objects” offers a personal “Curator's-eye” perspective on what makes The Tank Museum collection internationally important – and its available to order now.

The tank museum in one hundred objects

Ordered book as it contained the story of my uncle Archie’s prayer book that was among various artefacts I gave to the museum a few years ago. (Yes, I’m still alive!) I found not only that but a very well researched and inclusive book, beautifully and properly bound. The compiler David Willey has done a great job. Thank you.

Great Book!

This book is full of touching stories about things small as a sheet of paper to big as a tank. David Willey is a gifted writer who brings life to the 100 items with a few sentences on each one. This book is a must not only for tank nuts - everybody interested in history will learn something new.
As Mr. Willey stated in the introduction the museum has more than 100000 items in its inventory I hope for the next book "1001 stories from the Tank Museum".
