Description

By Jeffrey Plowman

Hardback

The menace of world war 2 delves into the history of the legendary German Tiger tank, examining why it became one of the most feared weapons of world war 2, with its powerful 88 mm gun and nearly impenetrable armour making it a formidable adversary for allied forces.

While the Tiger tank was nearly unbeatable in defence, it suffered from critical mechanical flaws. including a weak transmission and lack of proper recovery vehicles, which often led to operational failures and losses on the battlefield.

Drawing on official histories, unit diaries and professional accounts, this book explores key encounters with the Tiger tank during the 1944-1945 campaigns in Italy. Illustrating the challengers faced by allied tank crews and how they adapted (or sometimes failed) in their attempts to combat this iconic German weapon.
