Persuasion is a quietly powerful love story centered on Anne Elliot, a thoughtful and reserved young woman who is persuaded to break off her engagement to Frederick Wentworth, a naval officer she deeply loves, due to his lack of fortune and status.
Eight years later, Wentworth returns—now wealthy and successful—and reenters Anne’s social circle. As they navigate a world of changing fortunes, pride, and second chances, Anne must confront her past decisions and the enduring strength of true love.
Austen’s final completed novel, Persuasion is a moving exploration of regret, maturity, and the hope of rekindled romance.
