Tiger 131 is one of the most famous surviving tanks of the Second World War. A German Tiger I heavy tank, it combined a powerful 88mm main gun with thick armour, making it a formidable opponent capable of engaging enemy tanks at long range. Its imposing size and distinctive silhouette have made it one of the most recognisable vehicles in military history.

Captured by British forces in Tunisia on 24 April 1943, Tiger 131 became the first Tiger I to be captured intact by the Western Allies. Shipped to Britain for examination, it provided valuable insight into German tank design and capabilities.

Today, Tiger 131 is preserved at The Tank Museum in Bovington and remains the world’s only running Tiger I. Carefully restored, it offers a remarkable connection to the past, allowing visitors to experience this historic vehicle in motion and appreciate the engineering behind its fearsome wartime reputation.
