By David Willey & The Tank Museum
The definitive visual history of tanks and armoured vehicles, The Tank Book covers more than 400 tanks from the first prototypes to Challenger 2.
The Tank Museum has teamed up with Dorling Kindersley to produce the definitive tank book. From the birth of the tank to unmanned vehicles and the tanks of the future, The Tank Book, written by Curator David Willey, looks at over 400 different tanks.
Incredible photographic tours take you inside a variety of tanks, putting you in the seat of some of the most formidable vehicles to ever go into battle. Perfect for anyone with an interest in military history, The Tank Book is the ultimate guide to tanks and their unique past.
I was a little disappointed to find that there were not the sort of statistics I like about tanks (how many made, armament, engine, when they entered service, when they finished, upgrades, etc.). Some had these facts, but not very many.
It is one reason I bought the book.
Also, some of the pictures go across the join in the middle and make them impossible to see without ruining the book!
does what it says on the cover... plus more . will buy more.
Exactly what I would hope to find from one of the major sources & authorities on the planet. Brilliant!
Another superb book from the Tank Museum down there in Dorset. £6.99 at the time of this review for the paperback version. 243 pages packed full of colour and B&W photos, drawings and history on every aspect of tank warfare including the support vehicles. This is probably the only book you would need to get a superb grounding in the history of the armoured fighting vehicle. Buy it. Absolutely! I'm not sure how they do this for the money. Five stars? I'd have given it much higher because it is worth three times what it cost. Simply amazing value.
A lovely well laid out, and informative book. Excellent value, very pleased.
