Description

Written by Patrick Bishop

On a warm night of 18th August, a flotilla pushed out into the flat water of the Channel. To impress their wartime allies in America and Russia, they were to take the German- Held port of Dieppe, destroy key installations, seize intelligence material and then sail for home. Indeed ambition, folly and courage created one of the most tragic episodes of war, with more than half of the men killed, wounded or captured.

Using first hand testimony from a wide range of combatants and civilians- British Canadian, American, French and German and colourful analysis of the roles of Mountbatten and Montgomery, bestselling author Patrick Bishop brings Operation Jubilee vividly to life, showing who the men in the monochrome pictures really were, what they were made of and what drove them on.
