920 piece Boeing model from Cobi.
The Boeing B-17 flying Fortress is a four engine heavy bomber, long range plane developed in the United States by the Boeing airplane Company. Being one of the most famous and successful planes that helped the allies during the Second World War.
The planes were primarily used in carpet bombing missions. The B-17 dropped more bombs than any other U.S. Aircraft in WWII. The Boeing B-17, also called the 'flying Fortress', was heavily armored and included a weapons system on board an aircraft. In addition to its role as a Bomber, it was also employed as a transport, antisubmarine aircraft, drone controller, and search-and-rescue aircraft. Boeing plant 2 Built a total of 6,981 B-17s in various models, and another 5,745 were built under a collaborative effort by Douglas And Lockheed. Only a few B-17s survive today, featured at museums and air shows; most were scrapped at the end of the war.
This new Boeing B-17 airplane by Cobi construction blocks is one from the largest models created by the company. It has many moving parts including wheels, ailerons, weapons on board and propellers. It is a quite complex model and creates good fun for veteran collectors and older, experienced block fans. An amazing replica!
The b17G by Cobi is the best kit I have ever had. It is easy to put together and is also very forgiving if you make a mistake. i was able to easily take the tail apart and put back together when i discovered a mistake. The instructions were questionable at times but where way easier to work with than airfix models as they were in colour not black and white. I am very impressed with the structural capability of the model as I can pick it up with one hand without it falling apart. The features of this aircraft are very well done and work as advertised. The gun turrets rotate and the guns ca elevate to your liking, the landing gear extends and retracts exactly how the real b17s lading gear does, the flight controls of the aircraft are nicely modelled and move without problems and lastly the bomb bay doors are nicely modelled and are the correct size. The bombs are great too, they are the correct size and fit in the bomb bay nicely. I can only find 2 down sides with this aircraft. The pilots position in the cockpit is incorrect, he does not sit in the middle like a fighter aircraft. This is a bomber and they have 2 pilots to fly the aircraft so you should have 2 pilots sitting side by side in the cockpit and that would make this product a lot more realistic. The only other downside I can find on this aircraft is that the yolk is not correct for the aircraft type. If you look at b17 cockpit pictures you will see that the yolk is only a half circle not a full circle like a car. apart from that this is a great kit and I would recommend it to any one getting into modelling. I know that its not a proper model kit but it will help you to recognise where things go and to read the instructions so that you will have more fun when you get to actual modelling kits
