Tigerfibel (1943) - The Tank Museum Are Republishing a New and Authentic English Language Reproduction
Unlike previous translations of Tigerfibel, this cloth-back, colour edition published by The Tank Museum will feature a new English language translation carefully set over the German.
The Tigerfibel was originally produced for the young conscripts who would have been operating the Tiger Tank in the Second World War. This engaging historical document takes the complexities of operating the Tiger Tank and boils them down into an easy to read and engaging handbook.
Based on the original document housed in our Archive, this self-published title will feature English text carefully set over the German, retaining the rhyming verses and intended wit of the authors.
Such sophisticated machines required considerable knowledge to keep them in action, so commanders sought to snag the interest of young tank crews with these light-hearted, well-illustrated handbooks.
I’ve been interested and researched the Tiger Tank for about 15 years and having a translated copy of the crew hand book was an essential & useful addition to my reference library. I can appreciate that there has been much work on the translation to maintain the original German appearance and psyche of the time it was complied. My only grumble is the price. £40 is a lot of money for such a small book but, I understand that the print run must be limited which has influenced the price.
Very good book
I have a major interest in World War II, especially Germany. I couldn't resist purchasing this item. The material is both complex and humorous on how to correctly operate a Tiger I Tank without "blowing it up" instead. It also includes very informative information on the enemy tanks that could be encountered in a medium-sized poster format. Definitely worth 5 stars.
I purchased this for my husband for Christmas after hunting high and low for a copy of The Tigerfibel. You can imagine my joy to find that not only was there a copy translated to English, but that it was also available from our favourite Museum and YouTube channel! My husband adores WW2 artifacts, and has a vast collection of WW2 German items, and he absolutely squealed with delight upon unwrapping this Christmas morning. (I think he was more excited about his copy of The Tigerfibel than our own wedding haha!) Thank you so much for making his Christmas, and thank you for your service as both a museum and an educational powerhouse on Tanks.

Fantastic - fabulous job team!! Hours of painstaking work no doubt! Arrived on my doorstep in less than 2 weeks of ordering. I could not believe it.
Carefully wrapped which showed pride and care. They are fascinating documents. I'm amazed how the humour is used and at times astonishingly contemporary and relatable.
