Description

Recreate the British Second World War Tank Cromwell with a Tamiya 1/35 scale model kit.

This is a plastic assembly model kit of the Cromwell Mk.IV British Cruiser Tank Mk.VIII, A27M, which served alongside the Churchill infantry tank after the Normandy landings in June, 1944. The distinctive riveted armor and turret have been precisely reproduced. The large road wheels, which allowed the Cromwell to move quickly on the battlefield, have also been accurately rendered.

Parts are included to depict features which were unique to Normandy: "Normandy cowl" ducts which prevented the exhaust gases from entering the tank and hedgerow cutters, which were attached to the front of the tank to allow it to move through the thick brush. Five kinds of decals and a tank crewman figure are included.

Superb quality and assembly

Another fine detailed little project from Tamiya. Having built a lot of these in 1/72, the engineering in this scale is magnificent, and all parts assembled with little fuss at all. A really interesting and good representation of one of the classic British tanks.

Usual Tamiya quality, fast delivery, good to support the Tank Museum!

Not much to say, the model is exceptional quality, which is typical of Tamiya. Comes with several different marking schemes, all detail pieces to make the model look top notch!

For me, the best part if that you can support The Tank Museum in these Covidy times! Really looking forwards to coming and seeing the real thing in 2035 when all this is over!

Excellent kit

This is one of the best 1:35 scale AFV kits I have made. As far as I can ascertain, the model is very accurate and the level of detail is very high. There are one or two small bolt heads missing but these are easily added, if required. The tracks are flexible plastic but more than adequate in terms of detail and overall appearance. I would have preferred the model to be moulded in a lighter plastic (e.g pale grey or pale sand) as this makes it easier to see what you are doing but otherwise it is difficult to fault.

Classic tank, classic kit

This is an excellent kit of a classic British tank. I have built two of them over the years and they go together very well. In fact the engineering and fit of parts is so good that if you follow the instructions and take care with the glue you can practically guarantee a great result. Then all you need to do is chose the colour scheme from the several options in the kit. The only slight down side is the 'rubber band' tracks which are well detailed but will require a dab of 'Superglue' or similar sticking the track down on the top of the second and fourth road wheels to properly replicate the run of the track on the real thing. There is no end of photos of Cromwells in NW Europe available with a simple internet search to whet the appetite or provide inspiration. Recommended to anyone wishing to model a Cromwell although some previous modelling experience or parental supervision is advised for anyone under the age of 14.
