Description

Hardback

Did you know how complex the network of special vehicles needed to launch the A4 rocket (V2) in the field actually was? This book explores that question in depth. Every stage of the operation, from loading and transport to testing, supply, launch, and guidance, required purpose-built or specially converted vehicles, including fire control vehicles, supply and testing units, fuel trailers for A-, B- and T-Stoff, the Meillerwagen, Vidalwagen, and associated guidance systems.

In this comprehensive volume, every vehicle type is presented with previously unpublished photographs, detailed drawings, development history, technical specifications, operational role, production data, and use within the Artillerie Abteilungen of Division z.V.

This 384-page hardcover book, in landscape format, includes text in both English and German, more than 275 mostly unpublished photographs, excerpts from original documents, tables, and detailed 1/35 scale drawings, offering historians, technical researchers, and modellers a rich and authoritative reference.

Spezialfahrzeuge 2 will present railroad vehicles and new vehicle developments up to mot.III, the test firing of V29 and the ‘rail’ project, as well as alternative launch sites such as bunker and Erdfunkstellung (earthworm position). It will include listings of the Artillerie Divisions, their equipment, including special vehicles, and documented reports from Art.Abt.836 describing their experiences.

The book will also provide an overview of mission preparations and the final modifications made to the vehicles before deployment. A concise summary of the Division z.V. operations, ‘Group North’ and ‘Group South,’ will conclude this documentation.
