Description

Hardback

The Tank Museum Guide to M4 Sherman comprehensively covers the history, development, production, uses and ownership of arguably the most important tank in history.

Previously published as an Owners Workshop Manual, this updated and revised edition includes new chapters dedicated to the Firefly, the Sherman in combat, in the movies, and surviving Shermans.

It’s the latest in a series of titles published by The Tank Museum, which includes The Tank Museum Guides to Matilda II, D-Day, and many more.

The US-designed and built Sherman was the most prolific Allied tank of the Second World War, operated by the armies of the USA, Canada, Britain, the Soviet Union and France.

Ease of production, mechanical reliability and durability in use characterised the Sherman, of which more than 49,000 were built.

Acclaimed author Pat Ware tells the Sherman story from the differing viewpoints of its wartime crews and maintainers, and of modern-day restorers.

Great History Lesson on the M4 Sherman and all it's variables

I've always have been an M4 Sherman fan. It's not the most powerful tank in the era but what it lacks in firepower it makes up for it in it's versatility and just the sheer numbers produced.

This book chronicles the development and history of the M4 Sherman. I especially enjoyed the unexpected chapter on owning, restoring and maintaining an M4. If only I had that kind of money.

If you are a tank fan I recommend this well writing, highly illustrated book. Lots of pictures and charts.

Comprehensive look at America's primary WWII tank

The Tank Museum Guide to the M4 Sherman provides a comprehensive look at the evolution of the M4 Sherman. The book covers each aspect of the tank: engine, suspension, cannon, armor, etc., in terrific detail and fills in a lot of gaps in my understanding of how the Allies used the Sherman and how it stacked up against Axis armor.

As for the physical attributes of the book, they are top quality in every respect. Beautifully printed, lavishly illustrated, heavy pages provide a smooth feel, and a rugged glossy hard cover protects it all. It is made to be enjoyed for generations.

If you are a WWII armor enthusiast, you need this book on your shelf.
