Description

By Stephen A Hart

The German Tiger heavy tank was a monster of a machine that dominated the battlefields of Europe. One of the most feared weapons of World War II, the Tiger gained an aura of invincibility that was only shattered by the introduction of the Sherman Firefly during the summer of 1944. Designed by the British to combat the Tiger, the Sherman Firefly was based on the American M4A4 Sherman, but was fitted with a powerful 17-pounder gun which made it a deadly opponent. This book describes the design and development of these two opponents, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, assessing their tactics, weaponry and training. Gunsight artwork puts the reader 'inside' the tanks during famous battle scenarios, in a victory of superior Allied numbers, tactics and engineering.

Real firefly facts

A really good fact finding book, really helps to understand its development and where and when it’s involvement made a difference, also giving a side by side comparison to its adversaries.
Highly enjoyable read, well written.

Excellent book about a very special tank

The Sherman Firefly is often a tank that is hard to find much information on, or it had been. This book with lots of illustrations and technical details is well done, I'd recommend it for anyone that enjoys armored warfare or even the betterment of American fighting craft by adding British designs. I don't think you'll be disappointed. The book arrived a bit quicker than I thought, a pleasant surprise, and was in excellent condition, I appreciate all the Tank Museum does and their online videos and I look forward to doing business with them in the future.
Thank you!
