A bargain book on US Half Tracks

At the RRP of £12.99 this would be a bargain, but at the sale price of £3.99 it is a "Steal". It is very well illustrated with many a WWII B&W photo showing just how much external stowage a modeller can apply. Then there are the colour photos of preserved vehicles. There are 1/35 scale plans for three H/Ts, but actually they only differ in the weaponry sticking out of the top. Shame not show us a plan of an M5 or 9. Even more for the modeller I could wish they had produced a table showing how each could be distinguished (front fenders, rear door, side doors with vision slots inside or outside, light guards etc.). I was surprised to read that no M5s went to the Free French as 2eme DB had so many at the Liberation of Paris. Minor quibbles. Shame not to see Israeli H/Ts but the brief was for WWII. You do get to see every variant, with some bizarre armament. It was amusing to read that the M14 AA vehicle was handed over by the US to the British who promptly removed the 50 calibres. How many times have we seen the "experts" criticise model companies for showing hinged sides to a H/T. The model producers are proved right

This book is a real bargain (even at the RRP)
