Great Book

I have an interest in D-day due to a family connection. My uncle was one of the RE who took Mulbery B over to France. I have been looking for a book covering all aspects of the invasion. This book meets the bill, excellant book, good illustrations and information content, stuff I have not seen before.

Excellent Publication

I have not read it all yet but I am working on it!

What I have read so far is well written and informative. I have learnt a lot about the back room aspects of Opreation Overlord such as the use of ship bourne fighter controllers. Photos and other illustrations add impact and relevance to the text.

Much more than first thoughts

I wasn't too sure when I saw the book cover, but I have to admit I was happily proved wrong, I saw pictures I'd never seen before. The book doesn't concentrate on the Americans, the very best thing for me personally was that in the details individual servicemen were mentioned, not just tank regiments and again not the army, quite a lot about the senior service is highlighted which I served in the RN it was great to read.
So don't let the price or cover put you off buying it, it's already been passed around friends, different ages and different service records and they each found something not seen before it's a good read and quite easy to understand, well done all involved

The lowdown

Full of the sort of fine detail you don't get often enough. Drawings, photographs and plenty of informative text. Lots of background as well as the "big picture" stuff. Every aspect not just the armour details covered very well.

very detailed information

Superb book with an enormous amount of information giving us the knowledge about the hard work that was needed before the invasion started.

A quality production to treasure
