The Combat History of schwere Panzer-Abeilung 508: In Action in Italy with Tiger 1 ( with contributions by former members of the battalion and edited by Kurt Hirlinger): 188 pages with 199 photographs, 6 pages of unit organizational diagrams and 10 pages of colour artwork. This title is similar to the recently published history of schwere Panzer-Abeilung 503 inasmuch as it is a unit history as written by veterans of the unit. Divided into sections - headquarters company, maintenance company and the three tank companies- the book captures the remembrances of those who were with the battalion when it formed, during its operations in the difficult tank country of Italy and the final fighting in Germany and Northern Italy, often as infantry. The text is enhance with all the photographs from the original German edition, plus approximately 100 more from a variety of sources around the world. In addition, this volume has 10 pages of colour artwork by the internationally famous military vehicle artist, Jean Restayn.
