The Lockheed® P-38 LIGHTNING® is a fast, heavily armed American fighter aircraft of World War II. This atypical twin-engine aircraft had a nacelle with a pilot cabin placed between two fuselages. The nicknamed "flying frame" provided very good performance, which resulted in a long production period, which lasted from 1941 to 1945, and an excellent number of casualties by American pilots.
