British Armour in The Second World War: Volume 1 – The Great Tank Scandal & Volume 2 – Universal Tank
By David Fletcher
David Fletcher’s definitive two-volume history of British World War Two tank development is set to be re-printed for the first time since publication in 1989.
These rare and highly collectable titles have been out of print for many years, but their significance, insight and importance remain. They offer a critique of the military authorities, industry and government, all presented in David’s unique and witty style.
In Volume 1 – The Great Tank Scandal, he looks at the indecision and vacillation that left Britain seemingly unprepared for tackling Nazi Germany – and the consequences it led to.
In Volume 2 – The Universal Tank, he examines the lessons learned from combat, which ultimately gave rise to one of the most successful tank designs ever: the Centurion.
The books will arrive from August 2021.
