Description

By Chris McNab

Insights into the design, construction and operation of Germany's classic Second World War military utility vehicles.

Designed by Ferdinand Porsche and built by Volkswagen, the Kubelwagen and its amphibious cousin the Schwimmwagen were to the Germans what the Jeep was to the Allies and were used widely by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS in the Second World War. In recent years the Kubel and Schwimm have acquired something of a cult status among military vehicle collectors worldwide. Author Chris McNab examines the design, construction and use of these classic German utility vehicles, as well as reviewing today's fertile market for restorations and replicas.

Kubelwagen; What’s not to Like?

This is a great read about a little known WW2 vehicle, I’m not even a VW fan.

Good little Book

Its made an interesting read, even tho' I'm a VW man rather than a WW2 man.

OK, with some reservations

Lots of good info. Also a heck of a lot of repetition.
Many detailed and clear photos of restored/rebuilt Kubels.
The author full of admiration for the men who used the vehicles. Even one little mention of the fact that these were the "bad guys" (and they really were) might have made it a more accurate book.
